We stayed 2 nights in La Paz – got restocked at a really
nice Walmart and had fun at Carnaval on Fat Tuesday. We expected a Mardi Gras
type celebration but it was more family oriented like Fiesta in San Antonio.
The churches in La Paz are much simpler than the cathedrals
in Europe but, one thing they have in common is that they are all under
construction!
There is small café near the campground with great food.
Roger had the “American Breakfast” – 2 eggs, hash browns, bacon, 2 pancakes and
a salad(!?) for 70 pesos (drop the zero and divide by 2 = $3.50!) We had a beer
and a margarita at Carnaval for 80 pesos! But, this is what we got when we
ordered chips and salsa – potato chips with Tabasco drizzled on them! A little
communication gap!
We were all dreading our drive north today because we had to
go through the WORST construction zone ever – we all survived but, it is mucho
nerve wracking! The signs say “precaucion” and “desviacion” – no joke! Pictures to follow!!
