The cactus are blooming all around the park. Combined with all the other beautiful flower beds, hanging baskets and potted plants it is lovely - a great place to ride our bikes and just enjoy!
I took pickle ball lessons last week and it is really fun. For those of you not in the know - pickle ball is all the rage in retirement communities all over the nation. It is played on a court that is smaller than a tennis court with paddles bigger but similar to those used in ping pong. You always play doubles and the ball bounces first so it is not as tiring as tennis. They have 26 courts here and they are in full use most of the time! Players are rated from 2.0 to 5.0 so you can sign up to play with others that are your same skill level. Plus they have "round robins" for those of us just learning - we play with other beginners and there are mentors to help us learn techniques and strategies. Roger says I am a solid 1.75! All I know is that my thighs were so sore I had to pick my leg up to cross them!!
