Our New House!

We had new counter tops and sinks installed in the kitchen and bathroom. What a difference they make! Of course that led to new faucets, new rugs, new pillows and a whole new color scheme! Love my new house!

Our Palm Creek Neighbors

There is a country club type subdivision near here called "Robson Ranch" - they have a nice golf course and a great restaurant. We went there for the Sunday breakfast buffet ($10/person) 3 weeks ago and have been back every Sunday since! The omelet bar is awesome - reminds me of our cruises - and we sit out on the beautiful patio and eat and talk, and eat and talk, and eat some more!!
All of our neighbors are leaving for home tomorrow so went with them yesterday. A fun group that we hope to meet again in our travels.

The Alfa "pre-rally" starts on April 3rd so more Alfa's are pulling in every day. The "Roadrunners" - our chapter - are all in our area so it is fun to great old friends and meet new friends every day. The couple right behind us have a 2008 model Alfa that is very different from any we've seen. It has a walk in pantry and a bath and a half - pretty sweet!

Spring in Palm Creek

The cactus are blooming all around the park. Combined with all the other beautiful flower beds, hanging baskets and potted plants it is lovely - a great place to ride our bikes and just enjoy!

Chihuly Exhibit

I had a nice day yesterday on my birthday. I celebrate them but don't count them! Roger and I went to Phoenix and explored Papago Park and then went to the Dale Chihuly exhibit at the Desert Botanical Gardens. It was a beautiful day and a lovely walk through the area where the blown glass art was displayed amid the natural settings. Then we went to PF Changs for dinner - my favorite!

Casa Grande National Monument

We saw rain, on Saturday, for the first time since we left Houston in December. So we went to the movie theatre and saw "Monuments Men." A good movie - tells a story I never heard before.

Sunday the sun was shining again so we went out to see the Casa Grande National Monument. It is the biggest structure still standing of a community of Hohokam Indians that lived in the dessert hundreds of years ago. Hard to believe they could survive in such a harsh environment. They farmed using a series of canals they dug to divert water from the Gila River. That was back before all the dam projects when there was actually water in this river!

The gift shop had a T-shirt I liked that had a picture of a Saguaro cactus giving this advice:

Stand tall
Reach for the sky
Be patient through the dry spells
Conserve your resources
Think long term
Wait for your time to bloom
Stay sharp!
