Bill & AnnaLee

Bill and AnnaLee were due to join us here in Brownsville next week but AnnaLee was not feeling well so they turned around and went back home to Michigan. She has fought through some serious health issues lately and they felt better being treated by her U of M physicians that know her history. No time is a good time to be sick but it's especially uncomfortable when you are traveling! We are hoping she will feel better soon and they will still be able to come down but also want her comfortable - so we'll see. This picture was taken when the four of us toured around the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and went to Tahquamenon Falls in 2004 - beautiful September weather and we had a great time.
Yesterday was a beautiful day here. Dave & Marion went with us to a Mexican pottery place near Weslaco and we had lunch at Fat Daddy's BBQ. We soon found out why the parking lot was full and "Daddy was fat" - delicious BBQ! I bought a really pretty square planter with "feet" and my new hibiscus looks nice in it - part of my nesting instinct!
My treatment plan with the chiropractor is for 3 times a week for 3 weeks - not pleasant but it is helping. Maybe I'll be able to play some golf before we leave!

Happy Birthday, Judy!

Friday, January 15th, was Judy's birthday. Wish we were in Michigan to help her celebrate - well, actually, maybe I don't - it's really winter there!
Today has been a nice day - around 70 degrees and sunny and the coming week is supposed to be nice. We can finally get out and enjoy our lovely patio.
We went out to breakfast with our friends and neighbors - seems like most of the social gatherings involve food & drink! That's Dick & Janet; Dale & Kay; and Dave & Marion with us. Then Dave & Marion rode with us out to Laguna Atascosa Wildlife Refuge on the coast. A great birding area and picturesque coastline. Roger wanted to purchase an "America the Beautiful for Seniors Pass" that gets him into any of the national parks for free and also provides half price camping etc. I'm still way too young for one but can tag along!!
Roger is keeping busy with many motorhome projects - both maintenance and improvements.

I had an appointment with a chiropractor last week and will see him again on Tuesday. Still having sciatica in my right buttock and leg. Sure hope he can help me - I'm too uncomfortable to do much physical activity and I'm anxious to walk, golf and ride my bike. We went to a flea market last week and they had adult tricycles - I hope one is not in my future!!

Nice Weather

It's 71 degrees here this afternoon. Compared to the rest of the states it's not bad! Heard on the news this morning it was colder in Tallahasse, FL than in Anchorage, AK! But, a "norther" is due in tonight and the week-end will be cold and rainy. Roger is heading back to San Antonio tomorrow evening for a meeting on Friday morning and then back here Friday night. We went to Academy to get him some new tennis shoes today and we each got a new pair of golf shoes at a 1/2 price sale. Guaranteed to improve my driving, chipping and putting! Now I just need to improve my walking! Stay warm!

Home Safely

We got an email from Heather - dated January 3, 2010 at 11:47pm - letting us know they got home safe & sound. Trying to stay awake until bedtime to get their "body clocks" reset. Emily cried all the way from Austin to Dallas but was fine the rest of the trip. Samantha - the world traveller - did well. She can't go back to school for a week because they travelled to a country with H1N1 flu - a good idea to keep the kids healthy - but, they check their temperatures every day before allowing them to enter the school too!

Good Bye Day

We went to Austin and met Marion & Dave for New Year's. The girls stayed with us while Kyle & Heather and Carlos & Megan went out on New Year's Eve. We said our "good byes" on Friday night and Carlos & Megan took them to the airport this afternoon. I couldn't do the airport scene! We headed to Brownsville early this morning and arrived around 4pm. We had such a wonderful family time throughout December - hard to see them leave but we are treasuring the memories. Thank goodness for "Skype." It will keep us connected until we see them again in August when they come home for a fun houseboat trip with my family in Kentucky. We've been thinking of them and their long journey (33 hours) all day - at least this time Kyle is with them. I'm sure they will be happy to return home and settle back into their routine. They are enjoying the experience of living in Malaysia and will welcome the warm weather after a cold December in San Antonio.
Here are pictures of fun times: Samantha & I made a Gingerbread House; Samantha had Carlos' T-shirt on while she helped them "garden;" Emily Grace sitting on her Daddy. Isn't she just the cutest????
