We took our bikes out to the refuge yesterday - it borders the Gulf of Mexico and Laguna Madra - great for birding but biking is a chore! The wind is so strong you get a real workout in a short time but it felt good to be outside in the sunshine.
We then drove to Padre Island and ate lunch outside along the water with the pelicans and herons. Forgot our camera!
Roger cooked french toast and we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast with Dave & Marion out on the deck this morning.
On a countdown until our cruise - we leave from Galveston on the 25th! Going to San Antonio on Wednesday, then to Austin and Sugarland first. Looking forward the seeing how much Emily has changed in a month - plan to bring Samantha back with us for a visit.

Happy Birthday, Heather!
Can't believe our "baby" is 35 today! The girls birthdays age us more than our own!
We dusted off our golf clubs and went to the driving range on Thursday and played in a "scramble" on Friday. The wind was so strong that the gusts would almost knock you down at times! We signed up for the men's & women's golf on Monday & Wednesday - good way to meet people.
A cold front blew through yesterday - cold, windy & raining - had to cancel our BBQ plans - so we went to the movie and saw "Gran Terino" with Clint Eastwood - definitely worth seeing. Still cold and windy today so we've stayed inside planning our trip out east this summer. The Internet makes it so convenient but it is still time consuming to figure out where we want to go; when we want to go there and the best route so we aren't "zig-zagging" all over.
A cute Samantha story - Heather was trying to put her sweater on to go to school the other day and she wouldn't put her arms in - said "No, Mommy, I make a shawl like my Tema!"

25 Resaca Lane
We are settled in our new "home" and ready to start participating in some of the activities. Anxious to get the bikes and golf clubs out. We enjoyed our first "happy hour" on the deck last night with Dave & Marion and Dick & Janet.
Marion saw an orthopaedic doctor this morning and got good news - no fracture or ligament damage - just a bad sprain. She has a walking boot and can put weight on her leg as tolerated. So glad it was nothing more serious.

Happy New Year!
We celebrated Christmas, in Austin, over New Year's so my dates and days are all mixed up! We had a fun time with the granddaughters and family. Emily is changing daily! Samantha got a crib, changing table and high chair for her baby doll and spent hours playing with them! Joel & Rachel joined us for New Year's Eve but then had to return to Dallas to settle into their new apartment.
Dave & Marion were also with us. Marion fell down the outside stairs of their trailer and injured her ribs and right lower leg/ankle on Thursday evening. A trip to the urgent care on Friday resulted in a temporary splint and instructions to see an orthopaedic doctor asap for "possible" surgery. Crutches and a warning not to put weight on her foot was pretty difficult with her rib injury. So we changed our plans to stay in San Antonio and finish the airplane - it will get done someday! - and drove them down to Brownsville. Marion tolerated the trip much better in the motorhome with her foot elevated. Hopefully, she can get an appointment with a specialist soon and can have a "plan." We are glad we were able to rearrange things and come with them to help. We will rent a wheel chair tomorrow so she can get out and get around better.
The lot we rented for the winter is lovely - it is on a man-made canal that runs through the park and has a deck with a wrought iron railing. We spent most of the day "nesting" and getting settled. Anxious to ride our bikes and play some golf.
Three months of days like today would be wonderful!
PS-Notice Samantha's and her baby doll's PJ's match!
